We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

SCOPE: Under minimum supervision, perform planning, supervising, designing, and maintaining construction projects for the water and reclamation industry. This position assists our clients to develop important projects which will rehabilitate, manufacture and construct water/reclamation distribution, storage, and treatment infrastructure. Supports and adheres to the Smyth Industries Policies and Procedures, Safety Compliance, and Values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Projects:

+ Provides professional engineering and project management on a variety of waterworks projects simultaneously, from conception through completion, which involves developing project schedules, monitoring project progress and budget, preparing, and maintaining project files, monitoring quality of projects, and ensuring deadlines are met.

+ Projects include water infrastructure to private and public water utilities and mining clients including water master plans, wells, pipelines, storage tanks, pressure vessels, and water pump stations.

+ Provides effective and timely project communication, both orally and in writing, and ability to represent the company in meetings and presentations to municipal and private industry clients, other governmental agencies, utilities, and the public.

+ Exhibits the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.

+ Leads the project team to execute projects on time and on budget.

+ Oversees the technical work products of staff and field engineers and others performing technical tasks to support water/reclamation projects.

+ Coordinates with client and project team to develop project proposals/work plans and budgets, including assigning tasks to internal team, tracking required responses, and performing follow-up.

+ Coordinates with customer, client, and project team to develop comprehensive plan for construction project start-up and successful kick-off.

+ Coordinates in a timely manner with clients, sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers to deliver projects, utilizing internal project tools and processes for tracking and follow-up activities.

+ Coordinates efforts with project owner and other parts of the organization as required to meet project schedule.

+ Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, reviewing construction and fabrication projects for quality and conformance to plans and specifications, and verifying calculations and placements.

+ Assigns, directs, trains, and reviews the work of engineers and para-professional employees.

+ Establishes and maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing client service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and other stakeholders.

+ Exhibits technical knowledge and experience in the principles and practices of construction related to water and reclamation project construction.

+ Works with the Engineering team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs.

People:

+ Participates in professional and technical training opportunities for staff, including developing and presenting training in areas of expertise.

+ Supports professional and technical development of team members through annual reviews, goal setting, and regular meetings with direct reports and others in the department.

+ Provides ongoing day-to-day feedback and coaching of direct reports to support their work efforts and communication throughout the company.

+ Leads counseling and development conversations with direct reports as required for performance issues.

+ Provides administrative functions related to direct reports, including time and expense, PTO, attendance, etc.

BD/Marketing:

+ Participates in construction/engineering-related marketing and business development efforts, including:

+ networking at industry events

+ developing and managing client relationships

+ developing individual pursuit strategies

+ lead preparation of responses to proposal requests and RFQs

+ Establishes and maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing client service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ 5+ years of Water Infrastructure or related industry experience.

+ Bachelor’s degree in civil/construction engineering, or any relevant degree.

+ Arizona Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Civil/Construction Engineering.

+ Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.

+ Required to pass a preemployment drug screening.

+ Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include bending, lifting 50-pound objects, carrying 50-pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, working outdoors most of the time, or standing for prolonged periods of time.

+ Required to wear company supplied Personal Protective Equipment.

+ The applicant should be comfortable working around industrial equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ 10+ years of Water Infrastructure or related industry experience.

+ Master’s or advanced degree in civil/construction engineering or any relevant degree.

+ 3+ years Project Management experience.

+ Water System Planning and Modeling Experience.

+ Experience in Procore and Primavera scheduling software.

+ Change management experience.

The Test Environments, Manufacturing Engineer /Fabrication Shop Lead will be the main POC for incoming program fabrication work in our satellite shops. This lead role will directly support satellite shops by reviewing incoming jobs and working with the customer to clarify and validate job requirements. This role is responsible for raw material planning, creating manufacturing travelers, identify needed tooling and fixtures, resource planning, coordinating with other shop locations, and setting the overall shop priorities and schedule.

This role requires collaborating in a dynamic, fast-paced, product development, integrated team environment. The position interacts daily with support technicians, engineers, technical leads, and other shop sites to successfully meet the prototype development and test manufacturing needs of our internal and external program customers.This position is onsite.

What You Will Do:

+ Analyzes and modifies product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability. Work with underdeveloped drawing packages, basic sketches, released drawing packages, as well as CAD solid models

+ Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including, safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing the machinist’s workload, supporting customers’ schedules, delegating, and coordinating workflow as required

+ Determines and directs other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other required specifications in a multi-program, data and access-controlled environment

+ Report to the Mechanical Prototyping and Fabrication Section Lead within the Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication Department (the Bike Shop)

+ The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

· Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.

· Basic knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry as related to cGMP, regulatory standards, quality systems and Biotech processes.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

· Primarily responsible for manufacturing utility systems including WFI, Pure Air, Pure Steam, Natural Gas, Nitrogen, HVAC, and others.

· Manage engineering projects to improve plant utility systems. Seek out and apply novel engineering approaches.

· Coordinate projects and maintenance activities with operations in order to minimize disruption.

· Provide technical guidance for maintenance technicians, outside service providers, and

operations users.

· Engage with Facilities, Maintenance, Global Engineering, and external resources to engineer solutions.

· Review and approve drawings and other technical documentation to ensure that it remains current.

· Ensure compliance of GMP critical utilities with GMPs, industry best practices, and BMS directives.

· Investigate adverse trends and implement corrective actions.

· Create or contribute to quality plans that ensure orderly service interruptions and smooth return to service.

· Collaborate with other functions, such as quality assurance or EHS, to resolve compliance issues.

· Remain informed about the current industry practices and guidelines for critical utilities.

· Respond to unplanned outages in order to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.

· Issue or contribute to safety permits and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to ensure the safe execution of projects or maintenance activities.

· Serve as a site SME for critical utility systems and interact with regulatory authorities or internal auditors. Ensure inspection-readiness of key systems. Develop responses or action plans to correct any deficiencies.

· Leverage appropriate resources from our site facilities and maintenance departments

· Identify continuous improvement, energy conservation, and cost savings opportunities.

· Apply modern reliability concepts to ensure effective maintenance and prevent failures.

· Maintain and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) governing system operation and maintenance. Train in-house technicians and contractors as required.

· Perform other tasks as assigned.

**Education and Experience**

· Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Engineering or related science.

· Advanced degree preferred.

· 7 years' relevant work experience required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or engineering environment.

· Project management experience preferred.

· Aseptic Manufacturing experience preferred.

· An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may substitute.

Working Conditions

· The incumbent may be required to climb ladders or walk on catwalks at elevations above the floor to include walking on the roof.

· The incumbent may be exposed to areas where noise levels are elevated. May require hearing protection during these times.

· The incumbent may be required to walk outside for short periods of time.

· The incumbent may be exposed to conditions that require safety glasses and hairnets.

· The incumbent may be exposed to noise, gases, odors, and wet/slippery conditions.

· The incumbent may be required to travel

· Must be able to work at least 8 hours per day or longer during shutdown periods.

· Requires the ability to concentrate during lengthy technical discussions.
