    SCOPE: Under minimum supervision, perform planning, supervising, designing, and maintaining construction projects for the water and reclamation industry. This position assists our clients to develop important projects which will rehabilitate, manufacture and construct water/reclamation distribution, storage, and treatment infrastructure. Supports and adheres to the Smyth Industries Policies and Procedures, Safety Compliance, and Values.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

    Projects:

    + Provides professional engineering and project management on a variety of waterworks projects simultaneously, from conception through completion, which involves developing project schedules, monitoring project progress and budget, preparing, and maintaining project files, monitoring quality of projects, and ensuring deadlines are met.

    + Projects include water infrastructure to private and public water utilities and mining clients including water master plans, wells, pipelines, storage tanks, pressure vessels, and water pump stations.

    + Provides effective and timely project communication, both orally and in writing, and ability to represent the company in meetings and presentations to municipal and private industry clients, other governmental agencies, utilities, and the public.

    + Exhibits the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.

    + Leads the project team to execute projects on time and on budget.

    + Oversees the technical work products of staff and field engineers and others performing technical tasks to support water/reclamation projects.

    + Coordinates with client and project team to develop project proposals/work plans and budgets, including assigning tasks to internal team, tracking required responses, and performing follow-up.

    + Coordinates with customer, client, and project team to develop comprehensive plan for construction project start-up and successful kick-off.

    + Coordinates in a timely manner with clients, sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers to deliver projects, utilizing internal project tools and processes for tracking and follow-up activities.

    + Coordinates efforts with project owner and other parts of the organization as required to meet project schedule.

    + Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, reviewing construction and fabrication projects for quality and conformance to plans and specifications, and verifying calculations and placements.

    + Assigns, directs, trains, and reviews the work of engineers and para-professional employees.

    + Establishes and maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing client service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and other stakeholders.

    + Exhibits technical knowledge and experience in the principles and practices of construction related to water and reclamation project construction.

    + Works with the Engineering team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs.

    People:

    + Participates in professional and technical training opportunities for staff, including developing and presenting training in areas of expertise.

    + Supports professional and technical development of team members through annual reviews, goal setting, and regular meetings with direct reports and others in the department.

    + Provides ongoing day-to-day feedback and coaching of direct reports to support their work efforts and communication throughout the company.

    + Leads counseling and development conversations with direct reports as required for performance issues.

    + Provides administrative functions related to direct reports, including time and expense, PTO, attendance, etc.

    The Test Environments, Manufacturing Engineer /Fabrication Shop Lead will be the main POC for incoming program fabrication work in our satellite shops. This lead role will directly support satellite shops by reviewing incoming jobs and working with the customer to clarify and validate job requirements. This role is responsible for raw material planning, creating manufacturing travelers, identify needed tooling and fixtures, resource planning, coordinating with other shop locations, and setting the overall shop priorities and schedule.

    This role requires collaborating in a dynamic, fast-paced, product development, integrated team environment. The position interacts daily with support technicians, engineers, technical leads, and other shop sites to successfully meet the prototype development and test manufacturing needs of our internal and external program customers.This position is onsite.

    What You Will Do:

    + Analyzes and modifies product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability. Work with underdeveloped drawing packages, basic sketches, released drawing packages, as well as CAD solid models

    + Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including, safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing the machinist’s workload, supporting customers’ schedules, delegating, and coordinating workflow as required

    + Determines and directs other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other required specifications in a multi-program, data and access-controlled environment

    The Principal Plant Engineer is responsible for the management of multi-discipline projects, the creation/revision of engineering documentation, as well as management of external engineers and/or architects as required by each assignment. Projects range from small scale facility modifications/independent equipment to large scale, multi-discipline, complex equipment/system installations and/or major facility modifications, as well as site improvements.

    The Principal Plant Engineer is responsible for running cross-functional internal project teams of customer processes from initiation through project closeout and will be the primary internal and external contact regarding the day-to-day execution of the project.

    **Education and Experience**
