    Project Engineers (PE) learn production and programmatic operations and employ their manufacturing skill set in planning and execution collaboratively between the factory and they program. They analyze product specifications to determine appropriate designs and processes that support these customer requirements. You would apply your skills to develop, test, modify, and create solutions through a collaborative effort with various teams. PEs build technical depth in manufacturing processes, are a liaison to the program representing the factory’s interest and are accountable for improvement and optimization.

    What You Will Do

    Managing large scale design, control, and improvements to the manufacturing process

    Developing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool, and fixture designs

    Creating and managing Material Master and MBOM requests.

    Establishing engineering design requirements tailored to manufacturing processes

    Developing and implementing manufacturing process control and performance monitoring

    Leading factory wide strategic improvement projects

    Addressing large scale quality issues that affect the factory

    Developing influential relationships with internal customers

    Participation in ERB/CCB, LOB, production increment planning as the program Ops representative

    Providing Effectivities for Variances/IR’s/CN’s

    Help with communication between the factory and the program:

    Supporting manufacturing areas daily with process troubleshooting, incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP

    Leading non-conforming material analysis with root cause and corrective action analysis as required

    Leading Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using Six Sigma principles and data driven decision making

    Providing real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators; in-house as well as the supply base.

    Tool/fixture development to drive ergonomics into processes

    Leading corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence

    Informing program of major factory issues

    Informing factory of major program changes

    Keeping the Manufacturing Engineers informed when items such as VAR’s, CN’s get approved at board that would affect their hardware

    Communicating across different factory levels

    Understanding the configurations of hardware that are planned to be built for a contract, and helping to ensure the factory is prepared

    Assist with future contract proposals by providing the BOMS for applicable hardware configurations and other tasks

    Qualifications You Must Have

    Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.

    The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

    The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Qualifications We Prefer

    Experience with interpretation of technical documentation

    Experience within a manufacturing environment

    Experience leading teams or projects

    Experience with lean manufacturing

    Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and keeps pace with advances in technology

    Experience with SAP/PRISM

    Knowledge and ability to apply CORE principles and techniques

    Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

    Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE)

    Experience with technical writing and problem solving

    Experience with automated tooling, machinery and programming

    Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

    Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    Experience/education with project execution

    Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Project, Word)

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

    The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
