    **_What You’ll Be Doing_**

    Cadmus seeks an Energy Efficiency Evaluation and Market Studies Director to join our Market Characterization & Evaluation team in the Energy Services Division. The ideal candidate must be talented, motivated, intellectually curious, and flexible and have experience leading market studies, market transformation initiatives, and evolving energy-efficiency programs and measures to meet the needs of next generation decarbonization programs. In this role, you will lead our evaluations and market studies of emerging technology programs that are designed to change markets permanently by making clean energy solutions the norm.

    This role is expected to manage and conduct primary and secondary research on behalf of Cadmus’ energy clients (primarily utilities and administrators of energy efficiency programs). This role will be responsible for managing projects, executing market research and analysis, and managing the creation of written reports of findings. This role will lead market research activities, lead junior staff, implement strict quality control and quality assurance, and compile and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.

    The ideal candidate should have professional experience in program evaluation, social science research methods, market transformation initiatives, and evaluating emerging technologies, and experience working in the California regulatory environment. They should also be highly motivated to perform and learn, be able to work collaboratively and independently, manage assigned tasks and projects start to finish with minimal input from supervisors, and have exceptional written, verbal, and analytical skills. We are looking for candidates with strong market research skills who have demonstrated experience with emerging technologies and market effects and program attribution studies.

    **Responsibilities**

    + High-quality management, performance, and oversight of Cadmus’ market research projects.

    + Design and lead research plans and processes, including data collection activities, data analysis, and synthesis of research findings and development of actionable recommendations for client consideration.

    + Develop and refine models to predict energy usage and environmental impacts across various sectors, including residential and commercial buildings, transportation, industrial, and agriculture.

    + Lead sensitivity and uncertainty analyses to investigate the effects of input parameters, model design choices, and potential errors on outputs, while measuring how changes in assumptions impact model predictions.

    + Lead the ideation and execution of business development activities, including cultivating existing client relationships to expand existing work and supporting Cadmus in creating proposals.

    + Nurturing and building existing client relationships as a primary point of contact. Providing clear and consistent communication on projects and raising any concerns or issues.

    + Essential project management activities including budget tracking, invoicing, project planning, staff balancing, and resource management.

    + Developing and communicating detailed reports and presentations of results, findings, methodologies, and data sources, in addition to providing clear, actionable recommendations to clients.

    + Active communication with and coordination of project teams, providing constructive feedback and managing expectations.

    + Ongoing communication with Cadmus Energy Services leadership and support teams, including accounting, accounts payable, contracts, and operations regarding the health and status of all projects and tasks.

    + Communicate professionally (oral and written) with colleagues and clients, in varying time zones.

    **Qualifications**

    + 10-12 years of experience managing or leading research or planning projects that include both qualitative and quantitative techniques.

    + Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, the social sciences, environmental studies, economics, or a related field.

    + Industry experience in market research, energy efficiency, utilities, emerging technologies, market transformation program design and/or market effects evaluation.

    + Strong foundation in statistical and econometric methods, including causality analysis, time series, cross-sectional, and panel data analysis, and experience analyzing large datasets.

    + Direct experience in the California energy regulatory environment.

    + Expertise in survey design and administration, sample design, and data collection methodologies to ensure robust and reliable data.

    + Experience designing and conducting social science research.

    + Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Strong organizational and time management skills.

    + Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    + Some domestic travel may be required (typically no more than 10%).

    **Preferred**

    + Prior consulting experience working independently to make decisions.

    + Prior experience leading market research or energy efficiency evaluation projects.

    + Prior staff management and development experience.

    + Prior successful history of business development (including proposal management and response) experience.

    + Demonstrated analytical skills using statistical and analytical software (e.g., Python, SAS, R, and Excel).

    **Job Description**

    **Key responsibilities for this role include:**

    + Work closely with researchers to understand project imaging requirements and deliver high-quality results in a timely manner. On a daily basis you can expect to analyze different samples with different unique patterns.

    + Document and report results in an organized and searchable manner.

    + Prioritize sample requests by consulting with product development manager and working with the researchers.

    + Use EDAX detector to identify unknown materials and quantify thickness of certain layers.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve STEM/SEM issues that arise from extensive use of the tool.

    + Coordinate with vendors for major repairs and upgrades as needed.

    + Keep the laboratory space organized and adhere to formulated products lab safety procedures.

    + Provide technical oversight and direction on tool techniques for FIB and imaging.

    + Remain current with new imaging and tool procedures and related research; apply to ongoing research and development of new protocols.

    + Develop new protocols where modification or adaptation of standard procedures is required.

    + Develop operating protocols and training materials for instrument that can be used by researchers and make those resources available in SOP.

    **REQUIREMENTS**

    + Bachelor’s degree in experimental sciences such as physics, materials science, or a related discipline and 3 to 5 years of experience operating a SEM AND STEM tool in an R&D environment or a Master's degree with 0 to 2 years of experience.

    + Proficient in operating SEM AND STEM microscope and related accessory tools and software. Can independently run the tool on a daily basis, often sitting for the majority of the day at the same tool.

    + Knows how to properly prepare and image semiconductor samples.

    + Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with general guidance.

    + Ability to work independently but respond to management direction; asks for and offers help when needed.

    + Ability to operate a Thermo Fisher Helios FIB SEM preferred.

    + Demonstrated proficiency with Oxford EDAX detector and software and Thermo Fisher AutoTEM software is preferred.

    + Ability to troubleshoot and resolve STEM/SEM issues that arise from extensive use of the tool is preferred.
