    **POSITION SUMMARY:**

    We are seeking a dedicated Senior Safety, Health & Environmental Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) initiatives. In this essential position, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and execute comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs that make a real difference.

    As a Senior SH&E Specialist, you will engage with employees at all levels, fostering a culture of care and accountability. Your efforts will empower each team member to take responsibility for their own safety and well-being, ensuring that our workplace remains safe for all.

    Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies, as you conduct regular interactions and inspections on the site floor. You will tackle challenging assignments, performing daily audits and inspections to uphold our high standards of safety.

    **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

    + Fosters/develops a culture where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value with all employees, everyone believes zero is achievable, everyone is actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner, everyone actively interacts with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors.

    + Actively participates on the Factory SH&E Team/Pillar and other assigned teams.

    + Effectively coaches and develops operations line supervision to be effective SH&E leaders/coaches in their respective positions.

    + Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors and recommends changes to continuously improve Site SH&E performance to world class levels.

    + Primarily responsible for implementing systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure “audit ready” state of compliance.

    + Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOP's) to ensure Site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to SH&E.

    + Reviews, analyzes, critiques and/or approves engineering design development reports, plans and specifications for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

    + Drives implementation of SH&E best in class programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.

    + Drives key effective, sustainable implementation Corporate, Division and Site SH&E initiatives, strategies, programs and procedures, responsibilities via hands on leadership, coaching and teamwork.

    + Manages Worker’s Compensation in partnership with Risk Management.

    + Understand the safety risks associated with jobs, Site wide. Understand the aspects of the Site that impact the environment and optimizes them.

    + Ensures thorough investigation of all incidents, in coordination with Safety and Health Site leadership. Provide expertise and participate to all SH&E incident investigations as conducted by Site Leadership.

    + Coordinate/facilitate all environmental training for Site (Hazmat, Waste Treatment, SPCC/SWPP, etc.). Administer training programs for safety accident prevention and protection and may support environmental management systems.

    + Drive excellence through active participation on the production floor to adopt a - ZERO TOLERANCE MENTALITY - toward SH&E losses and drive elimination of losses through the framework of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and NCE.

    + Provides SH&E functional and technical expertise/coaching as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function. Partners with other key functions on initiatives including engineering, HR, Quality, Operations, NCE, etc to deliver on goals and plans.

    **EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:**

    + Bachelor's Degree in environmental and/or safety discipline or related disciplines or international equivalents is strongly preferred.

    + At least 2-5 years’ experience in successfully coordinating Safety, Health, and Environmental sustainability activities in a manufacturing setting. Experience with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and local equivalents and their application to Site operations.

    + Professional certifications in SH&E related fields are considered beneficial and may include CIH, NEBOSH Certificate, ASP, AEM, etc.

    **Job Summary**

    Coordinates all onsite activities at client location in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, state & local regulations. Supervises and plans activities of onsite personnel. Serves as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues. Maintains pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues.

    This position is remote, with a preference to the IL area.

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

    + Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous waste, universal waste and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, and manifesting.

    + Ensure compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting. Resolve all issues in a timely manner.

    + Assist with client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts.

    + Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations.

    **Qualifications**

    The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

    Must live and work in the U.S.

    A. Education and Experience

    + Education: Associate's Degree (accredited) in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experience.

    + Experience: One (1) year of relevant work experience (in addition to the education requirement).

    B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

    + RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience required.

    + 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain such within 30 days of employment.

    + Manifesting and profiling hazardous and non-hazardous waste experience required.

    + Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements. Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.
