    About the Position

    The College of Health and Human Services invites applications for a career track Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, College of Health and Human Services at Northern Arizona University-Phoenix. This is a full-time (12-month) position beginning July 1, 2025.

    The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is located at the Phoenix Bioscience Core, a 30-acre biomedical and health science district in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

    Faculty serve as lead instructor for didactic and clinical coursework, advise students and serve as chair for capstone experiences, develop scholarly and research projects, and provide service to the institution and professional community. All faculty engage in work to assess and enhance the student experience, including recruitment, admissions, advising, and program evaluation.

    The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has 19 faculty committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department currently has over 250 undergraduate majors and offers Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in chemistry including two American Chemical Society certified degrees.

    About the Position

    The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for the position of Chemistry Assistant Teaching Professor. This is a 9-month (academic year), non-tenure-track appointment, starting in August 2025. We seek an applicant with relevant expertise in teaching general and organic chemistry lectures and laboratory courses as well as chemical safety. This position is a non-tenure eligible, academic-year appointment beginning August 18, 2025. The position is renewable pending satisfactory job performance, availability of funding, and program needs.

    This position has two major job functions in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The first function is to prepare and teach 100 and 200 level large lecture chemistry courses, such as general chemistry and organic chemistry. These courses may be offered in person, virtually, or hybrid. Additionally, this position will lead the laboratory safety courses (CHM295 and CHM595) taught in the fall semester; these courses are extremely important to maintain safety standards for the instructional and research labs. The second job function is to manage 200-level (organic chemistry) and above instructional labs. The major duties of this function include organizing, preparing, and scheduling the labs in coordination with the lab instructors and faculty. Important for this position is to train and supervise teaching assistants in the content and safety issues associated with the specific lab. The Department offers over 50 organic chemistry lab sections per year (serving over 750 students) along with over 10 upper division lab sections per year. The instructional labs are almost entirely led by undergraduate teaching assistants; thus, oversight is very important to maintaining high standards of instruction and safe conditions.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Provide instruction in General and/or Organic Chemistry lecture courses.
    • Provide instruction in undergraduate and graduate safety courses which are offered every year in the fall semester.
    • Oversee Organic Chemistry and upper division laboratory courses (such as analytical, physical, and inorganic chemistries) including training teaching assistants, coordinating with faculty, and ordering reagents/supplies for the laboratory courses.
    • Collaborate with the staff and faculty on Organic Chemistry and upper division laboratory course scheduling and staffing

    **POSITION SUMMARY:**

    We are seeking a dedicated Senior Safety, Health & Environmental Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) initiatives.     **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

    + Actively participates on the Factory SH&E Team/Pillar and other assigned teams.

    + Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors and recommends changes to continuously improve Site SH&E performance to world class levels.

    + Primarily responsible for implementing systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure “audit ready” state of compliance.

    + Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOP's) to ensure Site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to SH&E.

    + Reviews, analyzes, critiques and/or approves engineering design development reports, plans and specifications for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

    + Drives implementation of SH&E best in class programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.

    + Drives key effective, sustainable implementation Corporate, Division and Site SH&E initiatives, strategies, programs and procedures, responsibilities via hands on leadership, coaching and teamwork.

    + Manages Worker’s Compensation in partnership with Risk Management.

    + Understand the safety risks associated with jobs, Site wide. Understand the aspects of the Site that impact the environment and optimizes them.

    + Ensures thorough investigation of all incidents, in coordination with Safety and Health Site leadership. Provide expertise and participate to all SH&E incident investigations as conducted by Site Leadership.

    + Coordinate/facilitate all environmental training for Site (Hazmat, Waste Treatment, SPCC/SWPP, etc.). Administer training programs for safety accident prevention and protection and may support environmental management systems.

    + Drive excellence through active participation on the production floor to adopt a - ZERO TOLERANCE MENTALITY - toward SH&E losses and drive elimination of losses through the framework of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and NCE.

    + Provides SH&E functional and technical expertise/coaching as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function. Partners with other key functions on initiatives including engineering, HR, Quality, Operations, NCE, etc to deliver on goals and plans.

    **EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:**

    + Bachelor's Degree in environmental and/or safety discipline or related disciplines or international equivalents is strongly preferred.

    + At least 2-5 years’ experience in successfully coordinating Safety, Health, and Environmental sustainability activities in a manufacturing setting. Experience with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and local equivalents and their application to Site operations.

    + Professional certifications in SH&E related fields are considered beneficial and may include CIH, NEBOSH Certificate, ASP, AEM, etc.

    About The Job

    We are seeking entry- and mid-level professionals to conduct biological field surveys and construction monitoring in AZ. Positions will be based at project sites located throughout Arizona.

    Candidates will have some experience with biological survey techniques, a background in biology, a willingness to perform strenuous physical activity in harsh desert climates with uneven and sometimes difficult terrain, problem-solving capabilities, and a desire to learn and work as part of a team.

    Preference will be given to candidates that have been USFWS Authorized Mojave Desert Tortoise Biologists or have the necessary experience and qualifications to become authorized biologists. These candidates have often led or helped lead surveys, training and teaching newer, more inexperienced surveyors.

    Any candidate must possess the ability and willingness to continually hike in desert climates for days or weeks at a time, use GIS and data collection applications, navigate terrain and drive off road. Having a 4wd and/or high clearance vehicle is a plus.
