    About the Department/College

    The Department of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), is home to some of NAU's fastest growing undergraduate degree programs and currently serves approximately 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students. The department is a true multidisciplinary unit, providing six different undergraduate degree programs in five unique disciplines (Public Health, Nutrition and Foods, Allied Health, Fitness Wellness, and Physical Education Teacher Education), along with the Master of Public Health degree, and an Interdisciplinary Health PhD degree between CHHS and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.     About the Position

    The Department of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at Northern Arizona University, invites applicants for a full-time (9-month) career-track faculty position at the Lecturer level (Master's degree required) in Public Health. The position begins in August 2025. This position is a 9 month non-tenure position

    This is a full-time, non-tenure career track eligible faculty position, requiring a balance of teaching (80%) and service (20%) with no research expectation. Teaching load for this position is typically 12 credits (4 courses) per semester.

    The successful applicant will have the expertise to teach both residential and online courses on three or more of the following topics:

    • Foundations of Public Health,
    • Current Health Issues (junior-level writing requirement),
    • Public Health Program Evaluation,
    • Human Diseases,
    • Methods for Community Health Promotion,
    • and/or Organization and Administration of Health Services, Future Directions in Public Health.

    In addition to quality teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in Department, College/University, and Community/Professional service. Research and other forms of scholarship activity are not an expectation for this position, and reassigned time will not be allocated for research activities.

    This is a Faculty (FAC) position.     Job Description

    The Arizona Housing Analytics Collaborative (www.azhac.org) is a multidisciplinary team of faculty, students, and staff from Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona, that leverages cutting-edge data analytics and community-based evaluation methods to provide actionable insights into housing and homelessness service delivery systems in the State of Arizona. AzHAC seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar with training in Data Science, Machine Learning, and related fields to support the development and deployment of predictive models/machine learning models aimed at evaluating programs addressing housing insecurity and homelessness. The AzHAC team has access to large-scale administrative data sources collected by state, county, and municipal agencies, and maintains a HIPAA-compliant high-performance computing environment housed at Arizona State University to support these analyses. The initial appointment is for a duration of 15 months (June 2025 to August 2026) with the possibility of an extension through May 2027. The position is funded by a grant from the Garcia Family Foundation and will be housed in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Northern Arizona University (NAU), with additional supervision provided by faculty from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at NAU.

    Coordination with AzHAC Team personnel and Stakeholders to Report Findings - 20%

    • Coordinate with AzHAC team members and Agency/Community stakeholders to identify specific criterion and predictor feature attributes
    • Communicate preliminary findings to stakeholders and develop collaborative relationships to guide model refinement
    • Create and distribute presentations, technical documentation, and manuscripts reporting on model features and findings

    Screening, Preparation, and Curation of Raw Data Sources - 20%

    • Engage in hands-on data preparation and supervise AzHAC Data Engineers and Data Scientists in the preparation of raw data from multiple administrative and public-use sources

    • Iteratively refine existing models in response to Stakeholder feedback, model testing and use, and the acquisition of new data sources

    Minimum Qualifications

    • PhD or equivalent doctorate (completed by June 1, 2025) in Machine Learning, Data Science, Predictive Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Quantitative Psychology, Sociology, Public Policy, or related fields.
    • The candidate must have extensive documented experience applying machine learning and predictive modeling techniques to real-world data.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervision duties include approval of staff’s developmentally appropriate lesson plans,

    workers on how to deal with improper behaviors that might be exhibited by a child in
    their care.
    Support and facilitate high school students in their effort to attain the necessary industry
    credentials and documentation.
    Implement all licensing requirements for childcare centers, food preparation, and FTF-QF
    programs. Responsible for keeping all employee, student aide, and children’s files
    current in compliance for licensing.
    Create processes for staff and students to follow to ensure policies and procedures are
    met.
    Participates in all grant and licensing inspections and assessments. Train and educate
    staff and high school students about Arizona Childcare and Food Service licensing
    requirements as well as FTF QF Assessment Tools and how they impact the Star Rating
    for the preschool as well as the funding and available scholarships for the children.
