**Summary:**

Camouflaj, the award winning team behind BATMAN: ARKHAM SHADOW, IRON MAN VR and RÉPUBLIQUE is looking for an experienced Technical Animator to join our team of seventy talented developers who collectively pursue the goal of creating high quality, meaningful VR games in an open, honest, and respectful environment.As a Technical Animator you’ll work closely with animators, artists, designers, engineers and producers to develop and maintain performant real-time animations and characters within Maya and Unity. You’ll create rigs, integrate assets into Unity, and develop tools and pipelines to facilitate the workflows of animators and character artists.

**Required Skills:**

Senior Technical Animator, Camouflaj Game Studio Responsibilities:

1. Develop content creation pipelines and tools for the animation and character art teams.

2. Create rigs for characters and props.

3. Help integrate assets from Maya to Unity and troubleshoot issues.

4. Guide animation and character art teams on best authoring practices for optimized in-game assets.

5. Work with art teams to ensure designs will work with animations.

6. Collaborate with designers and gameplay engineers to develop animation features.

7. Collaborate with producers on planning and scheduling.

8. Mentor and train other technical animators on best practices and give code reviews.

9. Keep up to date with emerging trends in animation and rigging technology.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

10. 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Animator or Technical Artist.

11. Experience maintaining and further developing an existing codebase of tools.

12. Experience creating tools for Maya and Motion Builder with Python.

13. Proficient with creating body & face rigs and skinning in Maya using proprietary tools.

14. Experience in model topology and directing character artists with best practices.

15. Experience with animation controllers and state machines using Mecanim or equivalent.

16. Experience working in Unity and using C# or equivalent.

17. Experience in 3D math skills such as linear algebra and matrix math.

18. Experience giving and receiving feedback in a highly collaborative environment.

You are a talented and broadly experienced Technical Artist who will tackle a wide variety of challenges across art pipelines. You excel at quickly building tools and refining processes to accelerate the work of the art team. You are an experienced communicator who is a collaborative problem solver, driving down iteration time so artists can focus on creating the highest fidelity possible. You have an extensive knowledge of game editors (Unity, Unreal) and are versed in modern technical art processes and standards.

**Required Skills:**

Senior Technical Artist - BigBox VR Game Studio Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain art production workflows and pipelines by creating tools, plugins, and scripts to aid artists, reduce pain points, and speed up iteration cycles.

2. Develop and drive critical features for a game editor that serves all audience types.

3. Develop and drive integrating critical AI features that will accelerate and inspire creators.

4. Prototype features and tools to improve workflows.

5. Maintain and adhere to a consistent art style and ensure technical requirements for assets are enforced.

6. Prepare and design systems for VFX, optimizing workflow and improving graphics fidelity.

7. Optimize environments to keep visual fidelity as high as possible while maintaining performance.

8. Port finished art to the game engine, assisting in asset performance and validation.

9. Maintaining technical documentation.

10. Train and mentor other artists to grow their technical skills.

11. 6+ years of experience working as a Technical Artist on at least one shipped game title.

12. 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining tools and developing scripts within the Unity development environment.

15. Experience with creating scripts and plugins with MEL, PyMEL, or Python.

16. Working knowledge of Maya and Unity as well as Photoshop, Premier, and Substance.

17. Experience structuring an appropriate VFX workflow/pipeline that fits the production environment.

18. Knowledge of current and next-gen art techniques, and fundamental art principles.

19. Experience delivering high-quality visuals while following memory and performance targets.

20. Knowledge to create, evaluate, and improve PBR game materials and textures.

21. Experience in pipelines for high and low-poly modeling, unwrapping, baking, texturing and material creation.

22. Understanding of graphics for rendering, modeling, texturing, shaders, rigging, animation, and lighting.

23. Experience profiling in-game assets and guiding the team in optimization to ensure that art assets are performant and fit within their budgets for draw calls, poly counts, texture memory limits, without compromising visual quality.
