This is a hands-on in-plant position requiring strong technical knowledge in industry equipment, the ability to work with varied mechanical/electrical systems, and strong leadership skills. The Chief Maintenance Technician's responsibilities are but not limited to repairing, maintaining, installing and troubleshooting industrial equipment, such as washers, dryers, steam tunnels, conveyor systems, and boilers.

    This position performs preventive maintenance that includes welding, boiler chemical testing and making necessary chemistry adjustments, resolving safety concerns, and preparing maintenance records. 

    This in-plant position requires strong technical knowledge in industry equipment, the ability to work with varied mechanical/electrical systems, and strong leadership skills.     Maintenance Supervisor

    The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the day-to-day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers and administrative staff members. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three-shift basis to ensure that maintenance on equipment is completed; testes and inspections of products, services and process to evaluate quality or performance of that equipment is accomplished; and specifications are met to DOT, client or company standards.

    This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Supervises mechanics, investigates, provides information, makes and administers decisions concerning employee discipline

    + Daily review of RTA dashboard and subsequent follow up on all abnormal issues.

    + The Maintenance Supervisors also has the responsibility of scheduling time off.

    + Evaluates the performance of both new and current employees.

    + Facilitates and schedules training of both new and current employees.

    + Works with Human Resources by participating in interview panels for maintenance positions.

    + Monitors the budget at a sectional level.

    + Explains administrative policies and procedures to employees; administers Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions.

    + Monitors absences/PTO/FMLA usage; verifies and authorizes time sheets for payroll purposes.

    + Represents Veolia Transportation at first level grievances.

    + Assisting with scheduling outside contract labor for special projects and monitors the laborer's performance.

    + Conducts daily safety/shift turnover meetings with both mechanics and supervisor on duty.

    + Works with facility maintenance to communicate issues relevant to a safe and pleasant work environment.

    + Travel requirement outside of immediate area: less than 10%

    Qualifications:

    + High school diploma, GED or equivalent

    + Valid AZ CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred; must be obtained if not currently held

    + 5 years+ experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment

    + 2 years+ of supervisory experience

    + Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles

    + Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
