Data Center Facilities Technician

**What does a successful Data Center Facilities Technician do?**

Your primary responsibility is to assist in maintaining continuous up-time of the Data Center. This is accomplished by monitoring critical Data Center support systems and responding to alarms caused by faults and failures.

**What you will do:**

+ Monitor critical Data Center systems by using the automated Building Management System (BMS), while wearing a pager to be always carried other than vacation or scheduled days off

+ Visual inspections and readings of equipment and systems

+ Respond to alarms on critical systems throughout the facility and trouble shoot and take necessary actions to maintain critical Data Center systems

+ Contact appropriate vendor and/or contractors to respond

+ Perform testing on equipment and systems and complete tasks as part of a preventive maintenance schedule

+ Maintain safe work environments and the actions of cleaning contractors

+ Clean all critical equipment as needed or as part of preventive maintenance and support maintenance tasks performed by vendors

**What you will need to have:**

+ 2+ years of experience in one of the following: electrical and/or mechanical, large generator systems, UPS systems operation, power distribution, mechanical plant operations

+ High school diploma or GED

**Would be great to have:**

+ Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, and Visio

+ Trade school or associates degree, or an equivalent combination of work and/or military experience

**Important info about this role:**

+ Must be able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders while working at heights of 6 to 12 feet and stand on your feet for the majority of your shift

+ This is a 3rd shift position (6pm – 6am) working 3-4 days per week. There may be opportunities to work other shifts as needed.

Summary:
This role is responsible for acting as a testing resource for the lab, supporting the current technicians and provide testing services used to facilitate production and certification of products. This role will also assist in maintaining documentation of test results, procedures and calibration of tools and equipment.

Essential Functions:

Provides accurate and timely test results and assist production with in-process testing.
Maintains quality records and procedures.
Performs standard testing in a lab environment when needed
Certifies physical properties to customers and generates certificate of compliance.
Maintains records of calibration and repair and perform calibrations on equipment/tools.
Maintains labs inventory of test consumables.
Reviews compliance of materials to material specifications.

Assist Facilities and Equipment Maintenance technicians in maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment. Assists with preventive/predictive maintenance work. Maximizes production uptime while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, quality, and environmental standards. Performs facilities cleaning duties, as necessary.

Schedule: Day Shift (7) Works every Thurs, Fri, Sat e/o Wed. Start Time: 05:45 AM to 6:15 PM

Pay Rate: $23.00/hr

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Operates, maintains, and performs minor upgrade projects on mechanical systems. Includes doing the monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/annual PMs, as well as fixing any operational and maintenance issues that occur on the mechanical system.

+ Responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of building and facility equipment, fixtures and systems.

+ Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains a wide variety of facility plumbing, mechanical, heating, and cooling systems.

+ Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance duties. Assignments are semi-routine in nature. Work performed within generally defined parameters. Some degree of judgment required in resolving nonstandard problems.

+ Receives general instructions and review of job plans for all work.

Requirements:

+ Knowledge of the mechanical systems such as exhaust, chillers, boilers, air handlers, compressors, etc operation. Experience performing general industrial mechanical work including instrument calibrations.

+ Written and verbal communication skills. Organization and time management skills.

+ Able to adhere to stringent environmental compliance culture and willingness to work a compressed work week schedule.

+ Work in clean room environments, must be able to wear PPE and air supplied respirator, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves.

+ Operate a PIT forklift, pallet jack and spend a considerable part of your day working in a mobile environment.

Preferences:

+ 1 to 3 years of experience in: Facilities preventative and corrective maintenance.

Physical Effort/Activities:

May be required to walk up to 5+miles per day, able to be on feet for 8-10 hrs at a time, ability to bend, twist, push/pull, crouch, kneel in confined spaces, work at heights, on a ladder, and lift up to 50 pounds. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
