**Where You Will Work **

Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching.

**Description**

Employee who under direct supervision safely performs duties related to the operation and production of a solution-extraction plant.

+ Responsible for having knowledge of: Solution-extraction and leach flow sheets; Proper shut-down and start-up procedures of copper sulphate and tank house electrolyte transfer systems

+ May assist with and perform: Sample collections of acid and electrolyte; Pipeline, pump and motor, pond, rain gauge, dam, dam diversion and berm inspections; Additional maintenance activities

+ May operate mobile equipment such as, forklifts and light-duty vehicles

+ Perform area housekeeping

+ Perform other duties as required

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Three (3) months experience in one of the following areas:

+ Mining/Manufacturing

+ Industrial Operations

+ Commercial Construction

+ Commercial Landscaping

+ Commercial Agriculture

+ Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

**Preferred**

+ High School diploma or GED

**Criteria/Conditions**

+ Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

+ Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

+ Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

+ Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on uneven work surfaces and work on elevated platforms

+ Frequently may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day

+ May be required to work a non-standard schedule which may include rotating shift work (other than day shift) in a 24/7/365 operation

+ Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

+ Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

**What We Offer You**

The estimated pay range for this role is currently **$19.00 - $26.00/hour.** This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
