Responsibilities Job Summary Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled minor maintenance on a variety of biomedical and/or electronic equipment (i.e., ECG, EEG, infusion pumps, enteral feeding pumps, defibrillators, therapeutic ultrasound, centrufuges, etc.) used in a "general care/ancillary support area" to provide direct, in-direct, and emergency patient care. The BMET I must possess a theoretical knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and mechanical functions. The practical application of this knowledge will be used to perform testing on electrical/mechanical systems and components to locate defective electronic and/or mechanical parts and or assemblies, while using specialized test equipment and hand tools. Must be able to perform maintenance tasks such as soldering / unsoldering connections and/or components, and makes necessary adjustments. Performs preventive maintenance, repairs, and overhauls systems and sub-systems. Adjusts functional parts of electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and steam/water control devices as necessary. Isolates minor defects in wiring, switches, motors, pneumatic systems, steam/water controls and other electrical equipment using specialized test equipment as required. Inspects and tests electric lighting, AC and DC motors, and power circuits The following are job accountabilities that may be reassigned: Dismantles, moves, installs or repairs mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment, usually of the heavy type. The following are job accountabilities that may be reassigned: Installs, repairs electric and electronic recording devices, and regulates control devices to manufacture’s specification and recommendations. The following are job accountabilities that may be reassigned: Resolves routine product or service problems to ensure customer satisfaction. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Education Other Basic Electronics, AC/DC theory courses or equivalent formal training. Correspondence courses, military diplomas, etc. are acceptable. Required Experience Knowledge of electrical/ electronics troubleshooting. i.e., motors, controls, relays. Required Licenses and Certifications Driver License Valid Drivers License and insurable Required
