Responsibilities Job Summary Responsible for performing high quality radiological procedures in a combo lab, including diagnostic/therapeutic and cardiovascular procedures, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative, in a safe and timely manner as ordered by physician, and in accordance with governing regulations and standards. Responsible for quality control and maintenance of department aprons and radiology equipment used in the CCL/EP/IR labs. Responsible for providing surgical scrub assistance to physicians and RN with direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for tasks or procedures as assigned. Performs data entry operations using appropriate hospital software package. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the network. Independently demonstrates the ability to utilize evidence-based clinical knowledge to assist the physician with the diagnoses and treatment plan of all patients in the combo lab, including the set up and operation of the diagnostic and treatment devices, operates the medical radiology equipment, and will work as the scrub assistant to the physician in the cardiovascular suite. Reviews patient identification, orders, and history to ensure correct patient, procedure, imaging site, Protocols procedure with radiologist as needed. Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists them into position using safe patient handling techniques and equipment. Performs Interventional Radiology (IR)/Special procedures and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort. Administers contrast materials as required. Able to initiate emergency response to contrast reaction as needed. Obtains and evaluates images for technical quality assurance factors including image laterality marking and annotation as required by IR/Special procedure protocols. Utilizes RIS, PACS and other, ancillary image management systems as needed. Works in collaboration with the medical staff and department leadership to recommend, train and monitor the performance of all personnel working, and maintain the supply chain of products in the combo lab. Assists in coordination of daily workflow for the department’s activities. Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed. Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates. Remains current with the organization's regulatory standards and CMS regulations. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe environment of patients and staff in assigned area. Maintains stock and inventory as assigned. Able to take independent call and meets call requirements as outlined in department Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Associate's Degree from an accredited NLN/CCNE or ARRT Vocational/Specialized Training Required Experience >10 months clinical IR or Cath experience Required Licenses and Certifications Radiology\ARRT - Radiology Tech License American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) Required AZ Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider course Required
