Responsibilities Job Summary Under the direction of a radiologist, this Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Assumes responsibility for tasks or procedures as assigned. Performs data entry operations using appropriate hospital software package. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the network. Performs ultrasound techniques and examination; including but not limited to abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, by selecting proper technical factors on individual patient basis and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort. Transports patient to and from exam room/table, prepares and maintains room. Acquires digital images and evaluates for technical quality. Assists physician in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications. Assists in coordination of daily workflow for the department’s activities. Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates. Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe environment of patients and staff in assigned area. Maintains stock and inventory as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED Required Experience 6 months clinical ultrasound experience (inclusive of education) Required Licenses and Certifications American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) eligible. Includes passing SPI exam (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Exam) or ARRT Sonography certification. Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification at the time of hire Required If ARRT when hired, ARDMS SPI credentialed 180 Days Required RDMS or RVT credentialed. This includes passing one of the following exams: Abdomen Breast Obstetrics and Gynecology Pediatric Sonography Vascular Technology 1 Year or 18 months if hired with ARRT Required
