The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an Design Engineer (PE). The position is expected to work 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.

Who we are
The Capital Improvements Division of the Public Works & Utilities Department is one of six American Public Works Association (APWA) Accredited agencies in the State and one of a few ADOT Certified Agencies for the administration of design and construction for State and Federally grant-funded transportation projects. This division is responsible for the management and coordination of the orderly design and construction of the City's capital infrastructure in the Capital Improvement Program, including procurement of professional services, design, construction and construction management for transportation, utilities, public buildings, community services and other general government improvements.
Who we are looking for
Our new team member will be passionate about customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to provide a full range of project management services for capital improvement projects and the use of a full range of professional engineering principles and practices in areas such as civil, structural, water resources, traffic, or contract administration; planning, developing, programming, design, and implementing projects. Our new team member will be able to negotiate and administer multiple contracts, provide technical reviews of designs and estimates, and coordinate with other agencies and utility companies. This classification is distinguished from other engineering work by the requirement for an Arizona Licensed Professional Engineer designation.

Minimum Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field required; and
• 5 years of experience as a registered engineer, inclusive of EIT experience, including 1 year lead or supervisory experience; and
• An Arizona Professional Engineer Licensure; and
• A valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
The City of Chandler will conduct a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
