**Summary**

Under supervision, plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, instructs, and evaluates training and development programs for SRP’s Transmission and Generation Operations (TGO). This role is designed to effectively produce and maintain adequately trained and qualified System Operators who ensure that SRP’s electric system is operated in a safe and reliable manner in accordance with NERC, WECC, FERC and any other applicable regulatory requirements. The position involves interaction with all SRP employee levels and various internal and external organizations

**What You'll Do**

**Utilizes a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) following the A.D.D.I.E. process to Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate training and development programs for Transmission Generation Operations (TGO) personnel, including System Operators and Operations Support Personnel.**

**Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive training courses to ensure SRP System Operators are fully qualified and adequately trained on NERC and WECC Standards, FERC Orders, company specific real-time Reliability Related Tasks and procedures, and all applications and tools necessary to perform their assigned job duties.**

**Implements and delivers training courses including but not limited to preparing training materials (presentations, student guides, instructor guides, handouts), instructing training classes, facilitating simulations exercises using the Operator Training Simulator (OTS), scoring and grading of assessments and/or scorecards, implementation of remedial testing as needed, and collections of student course evaluation.**

**Develops, coordinates, implements, and conducts emergency exercises such as but not limited to Blackstart and System Restoration drills, Loss of Control Center Functionality drills, Summer Readiness, Capacity and Energy Emergency Plan, NERC GridEx exercises and simulations.**

**Documents and maintains records of all required compliance evidence documentation.**

**Performs annual reviews of operator Reliability Related Tasks evaluation, TGO training programs as required by NERC.**

**Monitors, identifies, validates, and implements remediation action plans for System Operator NERC credential maintenance.**

**Serves as a mentor and leads progress regular review meetings with new trainees as part of their initial training program. Conducts one-on-one training and progress review meetings with Trainee and provides guidance as needed.**

**Performs and leads Job Tasks Analysis (JTA) projects to identify training needs and establish, review, and maintain accurate company specific Reliability Related Tasks.**

**Designs targeted and specific training courses by determining the appropriate Lesson Plan, Learning Objectives, Training Format (material, media, delivery), Subject Matter Experts, Assessment and Evaluation types.**

**What It Takes To Succeed**

Education

High school diploma or GED plus completion of an appropriate apprenticeship, or completion of a training program in Power Plant Operations, Real-Time Energy Trading, Transmission Scheduling, Power System Operation, Power System Reliability Coordination or completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Certifications or Testing Required

Must already hold or have held a NERC Certificate credential for at least three (3) years as either:

+ “Reliability Coordinator (RC”) certification

+ “Balance and Interchange / Transmission Operator (BITO)” certification

+ “Balancing and Interchange Operator (BIO)" certification

+ “Transmission Operator (TO)” certification

OR

+ Must obtain an active NERC certification within 6 months of the position start date

Preferred Candidate

+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience using the systematic approach to training process

+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience presenting electrical or operations training, including simulation scenarios

+ Strong familiarization or proficiency with:

+ NERC, WECC, and FERC standards and requirements

+ Developmen, design, and implementation, and maintenance of:

+ Computer-Based Training (CBT) courses

+ Simulation Base-Cases and Scenarios

+ Field Visit Courses

+ Exams and Final Qualification Review Boards

+ Ability to perform multiple assignments concurrently and under pressure

**Experience**

Minimum of five (5) years of previous related technical electric utility operating experience, such as but not limited to distribution, transmission, generation, or system operations, or power plant operator experience.

OR

NERC Certified and a minimum of three (3) years of previous related technical electric utility operating experience, such as but not limited to distribution, transmission, generation, or system operations, or power plant operator experience.

**Hybrid Workplace**

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
