Job Description
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, Human Resources (AVP-HR), the Director of Learning & Organizational Development provides leadership, direction, guidance, oversight, and day-to-day administration of Learning & Organizational Development functions in support of university priorities. The Director of Learning and Organizational Development plays a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing NAU's talent development strategy. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that foster employee growth and cultivate a positive organizational culture. This role will work to enhance employee engagement, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
Leadership Development - 20%
• Lead the design and delivery of leadership development programs to build a pipeline of effective leaders across the organization.
• Create tailored programs to build leadership capabilities and succession planning.
• Coordinate resources through both internal campus partnerships and external vendors to execute programming and ensure its success.
Staff Professional Growth Program Oversight - 20%
• Enhance university professional growth, satisfaction, and aspirations. This includes offering employee onboarding, creating career development pathways and cross-functional skill-building opportunities, identifying key talent, and facilitating coaching and mentorship programs.
Special Projects - 15%
• Organizes and coordinates special programs and projects; monitors programs/projects as they relate to departmental goals.
• Collaborates on various problem solving, research, and solution recommendations.
• Assists with the development and execution of area goals and objectives.
• Prepares special reports, summaries or replies to inquiries; researches and assists in implementing "best practices" internally and within the university
• Researches and prepares background information for presentations, articles and publications.
• Obtains and provides specific information, researches various issues, special problems, recommends solutions, and coordinates and assists with policy matters.
Organizational Culture and Change Management Strategy - 10%
• Cultivate a strong, inclusive, and values-driven organizational culture that aligns with the organization's goals and employee needs while supporting change initiatives and ensuring smooth transitions to maintain employee morale and performance with a key focus on integrating Artificial intelligence into programming and processes.
Performance Management - 10%
• Contribute to the development and execution of performance success strategies, ensuring a continuous feedback culture and alignment with organizational objectives
Partnerships - 10%
•
Work with stakeholders throughout the University including the leadership development taskforce to identify University wide development needs. Analyze performance of existing platforms and partnerships, informing discussions regarding improvement of services or platform capabilities to support attainment of goals and objectives for the learning portfolio
Reporting & Data Analytics - 5%
• Gather and analyze data on employee satisfaction, training effectiveness, and organizational health to measure effectiveness and inform decision-making and future initiatives.
Compliance Training Management - 5%
• Collaborate with stakeholders to establish compliance training offerings. This includes tracking completion rates, ensuring program relevance, and adjusting training schedules as needed.
Other - 5%
• Represent HR in meetings with university leadership
• Provides/coordinates backup to HR staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Development or related field. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Five years of Learning and Organizational Development experience.
• Three years of leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree or PhD in Organizational Development or related field.
• Learning & Organizational Development experience in a higher education or related setting.
• Leadership Experience in a higher education setting
• Knowledge of Current NAU Leadership Development Programs
• Demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Salary
Salary range begins at $118,430. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position.
