This is a 3-4 month summer internship position that provides professional level staff assistance in the areas of research and analysis, procedural studies and technical planning for a variety of general administrative or specialized technical projects in support of the objectives in the Water Resources Engineering Department.
The intern will work approximately 20 - 29 hours per week, three to five days per week (Monday through Friday). These hours are during the day. This is a stand-alone position classification and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Duties include the following:
Assists Water Resource Engineers with development related design reviews and the water/sewer line extension program. This will require that City Code and City Design Standards be studied and applied.
Analyze procedures, drafts studies, reports and/or manuals and report findings and propose solutions.
Conduct field visits to sites to inspect capital assets, groundwater well data collection and operational observations, and water treatment process data collection and observations.
Database entry, technical assessment of water and wastewater assets, and various field data collection.
Other duties related to water treatment and distribution, wastewater, groundwater and wells, and database management, as necessary.
