• This position is a remote position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at a location other than an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. The incumbent may occasionally work in a shared site, but primarily will work elsewhere.
Job Description
The Graphic Designer, Senior will create visual communication designs that support department and/or university initiatives and objectives. Develops design solutions that can be delivered through a variety of channels, including but not limited to print collaterals, earned and paid media, as well as owned media (the university's website). Maintains and develops visual themes in compliance with university brand standards to ensure all visual communications to all university audiences are consistently onbrand.
Graphic Design - 80%
• Creates graphic design solutions to communicate product offerings and to promote the NAU or department experience to various audiences - prospective students and parents, current students and parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and other community members.
• Recognizes new design opportunities and creates new design solutions that support the university's brand building efforts, initiatives, and objectives.
• Holds a high-level understanding and knowledge of the university brand's visual communication strategies and can apply such to appropriate handling of content.
• Plays an essential role in ensuring the quality of any design that represents the university.
• Identifies problems and potential improvements associated with marketing and communications materials creation and proposes recommendations for improvements to ensure effectiveness of the branding and marketing communications through visual designs.
• May supervise individual contributor, student, or temporary employees.
Functional Marketing Support - 15%
• Applies subject matter expertise within the marketing team by demonstrating advanced knowledge of concepts and practices
• Applies broad knowledge of concepts and procedures to perform complex tasks; identifies problems and solutions independently; identifies and resolves missing information; improves existing processes.
• Maintains consistency in brand standards across all content produced.
• Implements feedback from stakeholders to refine and improve design quality.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above educational Minimum Requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• 6-years of relevant graphic design experience.
• Background in designing for motion graphics and video design/editing skills.
• Background in higher education.

• Advanced knowledge of graphic design tools and processes for various media, including relevant digital media applications.
• Advanced knowledge of university policies related to the university's visual identity.

Background Information
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. Salary
Anticipated salary range is $61,000 to $65,000 . Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
