• This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.

Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Network Technician, Intermediate and an experienced and highly skilled Network Technician, Senior to join our team.
Network Technician, Intermediate
The successful candidate will perform work involving cable, wiring and equipment relating to telecommunications service i.e. Copper, Fiber Optic, Access Control, Security Cameras.
Installing and Troubleshooting of Systems - 65%
• Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems
• Perform regular maintenance and upgrades on cabling systems to ensure optimal performance
• Installs network, Audio video, and telephone equipment and associated wires and cables
Documentation and Maintenance - 25%
• Experience with ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow, used for customer communications and technical documentation
• Work closely with Student Workers in the field
User support - 5%
• 24x7 on-call duties required for this position
Other - 5%
• Perform other duties as assigned
Network Technician, Senior
Successful applicants will be responsible for all aspects of copper and fiber cable installation and support including testing, troubleshooting, documentation and maintenance of twisted pair and fiber optic network cable. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT support, including cabling installations, access control systems, and project management.
Installing and Configuring of Systems - 55%
• Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
• Direct support of the Network Operations Center including racking of network-based equipment across campus. (i.e. Wireless AP's and switches)
• Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure all cabling installations meet company and industry standards.
• Direct Support of the Safety and Security systems team including installation and troubleshooting physical equipment across campus. (i.e. Card readers, Cameras, power supplies)
Troubleshooting and Maintenance - 25%
• Serve as a point of escalation in support of the ICT technical lead.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Implement best practices and standard operating procedures for cabling installations.
User Support - 15%
• Provide technical expertise as needed for ICT team members, as well as campus stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• 24/7 On-call duties required for this position.

• Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Network Technician, Intermediate
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; AND,
• 2-4 years of relevant experience; OR,
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Network Technician, Senior
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; AND,
• 3-5 years of relevant experience; OR,
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Network Technician, Intermediate
• BICSI Fiber or Copper Certification or higher.
• Industry related certifications.
• Access control and security system installation experience.
• Experience with new construction and retrofit environments.
Network Technician, Senior
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cabling installation, maintenance, or a similar role.
• BICSI installer level II copper certified Optical Fiber preferred.
• Access control and security system installation experience.
• Experience with new construction and retrofit environments.
• Relevant certifications such as BICSI Technician, RCDD, or Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) are highly desirable.
• Certifications in vendor specific solutions. (i.e. Belden, Fluke, etc.)

• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic cabling.
• The ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Experience with hand tools, toning equipment, copper/fiber test equipment and various other industry specific equipment.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in varied environments.
• Possess a valid Driver's license.
Driving Requirement
Network Technician, Intermediate AND Network Technician, Senior
Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Network Technician, Intermediate
• Salary range begins at $58,882. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
Network Technician, Senior
• Salary range begins at $67,714. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.

The positions are Classified Staff (CLS) positions.
