POSITION PURPOSE
Under general supervision, to inspect produce upon arrival at the Distribution Center and existing produce for quality; accepts or rejects produce that does not meet quality and other standards. Employees in this job classification provide quality control support to management, vendors, stores and the Distribution Center. This job classification requires knowledge of the products, procurement practices and methods and the ability to select and provide produce to customers that meet the company’s budgetary and quality requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D and a minimum of three or more (3+) years’ experience in a retail produce department.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations, such as FDA and Health.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to work independently.
Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Able to maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to be flexible in changing work priorities.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously within established timelines.
Ability to generate work in an accurate and timely manner.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain effective working relationships.
Good customer service skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Worked is performed in a distribution center environment with refrigeration temperatures ranging from 34-52 degrees Fahrenheit. Work around pallet jacks and forklifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

Walking throughout the facilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. *Performs a physical inspection of all produce received at the Distribution Center prior
to product acceptance. Inspects for company standards in quality, size and condition.
2. *Approves produce delivery when standards are met. Rejects produce when standards
are not met and informs appropriate staff and vendor. Obtains buyer approval in some
situations.
3. *Performs a physical inspection and monitors warehoused produce for quality, shelf
life and possible rotation problems. Notifies appropriate staff and vendors for
resolution.
4. *Trains new employees in the Distribution Center on produce acceptance standards
prior to receiving products from vendors and others.
5. *Coordinates orders with the produce buying team.
