Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Join a team dedicated to designing and manufacturing innovative visual, audible, and infrared solutions for illumination, signaling, communication, and control applications across various industries, including industrial, transportation, public safety, and defense. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with a high-level mechanical engineer, gaining valuable knowledge and experience while contributing to the development and improvement of cutting-edge products.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate across disciplines to drive the full product development lifecycle from concept to deployment.

+ Design and develop mechanical components, focusing on plastic, metal, and ruggedized assemblies for harsh environments.

+ Create tooling and fixtures for both research and development and production, ensuring efficient low-volume assembly methods.

+ Engage in hands-on prototyping and manufacturing, demonstrating expertise in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/A).

+ Generate and interpret bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and technical instructions with clarity and precision.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of experience in product development and mechanical design.

+ Proficiency in 3D solid modeling, with SolidWorks preferred.

+ Strong understanding of mechanical materials and manufacturing processes, including injection molding, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication.

+ Hands-on experience in working with cross-functional teams to build prototypes and support production.

+ Ability to design tooling and fixtures for testing and manufacturing.

+ Excellent technical writing skills for creating and understanding engineering documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with electronics, PCB design, and electromechanical systems.

+ Experience in small company or startup environments where flexibility and self-direction are essential.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Enjoy flexible work hours, with a schedule of 80 hours over two weeks, such as 7-3 or 8-4. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
