**Responsibilities**
**Job Summary:**
+ The incumbent is responsible for technical, clerical, and transportation duties for the department and is involved with the preparation, distribution and delivery of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The technician must demonstrate competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Other duties within scope of practice as assigned by supervising pharmacist. The technician may be required to work at another GSSA facility.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
**Education and Experience:**
+ One year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience
+ OR a 6-week pharmacy technician externship at the hiring facility
+ Experience in the preparation of intravenous admixtures
+ Experience handling antineoplastic/chemotherapeutic/hazardous medications
+ Completion of an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Technician program _(preferred)_
+ Demonstrated knowledge of:
+ Legal restrictions on non-licensed hospital pharmacy personnel
+ Medical abbreviations, pharmaceutical terminology, and calculations
+ Generic and trade names of medications
**Licensure:**
+ Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Technician
