Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Principal Systems Engineer who will play a crucial role in the design and development of defense systems, ensuring they meet stringent specifications and performance requirements. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering and a keen understanding of defense industry standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

+ Support the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions, considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

+ Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement solutions.

+ Deliver technical guidance and recommendations to the engineering team, driving innovation and advanced prototype concepts in automation, modeling and simulation, software architectures, and integration outcomes.

+ Conduct system integration and testing to verify and validate the functionality, performance, and security of defense systems.

+ Participate in, lead, and coordinate preparation, conduct, and closeout of internal and external customer reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and Stage Gate reviews.

+ Identify potential risks and costs associated with system development and implementation.

+ Ensure compliance with defense industry standards and regulations.

Essential Skills

+ 12 + years of proven experience in systems engineering within the Defense Industry (Missile Systems or Weapons)

+ Strong background in systems engineering.

+ Ability to manage and collaborate across cross-discipline teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, Operations, etc.).

+ Intermediate experience in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Project, and/or other applicable tools.

+ Integration, test, verification, and validation experience.

+ Ability to generate block diagrams and interface control diagrams (electrical, logical, software, etc.).

+ Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field preferred.

+ Desired - Model-based engineering and tools (MBSE, SysML, or equivalent).

+ Desired - Configuration management experience.

+ Rapid development skills.

+ Requirements development, management, and requirements configuration control.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of office, research and development, test, and small manufacturing settings. The company offers an industry-leading position in GPS/PNT, with a small company feel and vibe. This is a permanent position with negotiable PTO and holiday benefits.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $165000.00 - $185000.00/yr.
