**POSITION SUMMARY**
This position is responsible for internal and external customer contact regarding referral testing. Resolves and communicates outcomes of complex internal and external customer issues. Resolves problem logs from performing locations and monitors pending lists to assure all specimens have been sent. Monitors for timely reporting of results. Performs all duties of a Referral Testing Specialist as needed or assigned. Manages work flow and work assignments as needed. This position provides coaching, training and support to Referral Testing Specialist staff. _Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards._
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.
+ Excellent communication, comprehension and organizational skills.
+ Strong PC and system skills, must be able to work with multiple LIS systems and be able to understand how and when to use them.
+ Ability to make independent decisions and use knowledge based judgment in non-routine situations.
+ High level of problem solving skills.
+ Ability to use multiple communication tools to respond to requests for problem resolution, result inquiry and specimen requirements for all referral testing, emphasizing team work and focusing on customer service.
+ Exhibits personal maturity and responsibility.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Minimum age requirement of 18.
+ Must be high school graduate or have achieved equivalency.
+ Strong PC skills including the ability to use multiple LIS systems as well as all Office products.
+ Advanced medical terminology and specimen type recognition.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma concepts.
+ Additional related education and/or experience.
+ Knowledge of Laboratory Specimen Processing procedures and terminology.
