Summary This position is located at the Kayenta Service Unit, Division of Administrative Service, Health Information Management Branch, Kayenta, Arizona. The healthcare provides a wide variety of Health Care Services in the are of but not limited to Short-Stay Inpatient, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Newborn Nursery, Physical Therapy, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Women's Health, Ambulatory Care, Community health and a variety of specialty clinic services. Responsibilities The purpose of this position is to provide direct supervision to the Medical Record Technicians, by planning, directing, and managing the routine hybrid medical record operations and maintenance according to policies and procedures. Directs supervision of medical record technicians daily, to provide direction, training, and guidance in the filing, scanning, disclosure, storage, retention, and data entry of patient records Develops and implements effective and efficient processes to ensure the electronic health records are maintained, paper medical records are filed accurately, scanning of pertinent documents is timely and keeps abreast of regulatory changes for effective management of the hybrid record system Performs regular random audits, analyses of work and processes to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures Oversee job assignments, work schedules and recommend changes as needed Participates in Performance Improvement activities to establish, monitor and maintain the ambulatory services section for quality patient support services Assists with research projects and/or collection of data to meet the objective of client Provides on-going orientation and training Oversees entire archiving program and birth/death certificate programs to ensure complete and accurate information is collected Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of health records to identify deficiencies Maintains compliance with infection control, fire and life safety, and operations policies and procedures Ensure adherence to all medical record policies and procedures with review, analysis and technical evaluation of clinical records Maintain quality control and coordination with patient registration, to avoid duplicate health record numbers accurate name, identify deficient information, or obtaining clarification Re-issue of patient charts In the absence of the Medical Records Administrator, accepts subpoena duces tecum, as the custodian of medical records Ensures adequate office supplies are available for HIM staff Requirements Conditions of Employment Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period ESEP appointees typically serve a two year trial period U.S. Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-07: Your resumes must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or take: Supervisor Staff to meet regulatory guidelines to ensure that the following are completed for HIM functions; direct, coordinate and oversee work of subordinates; knowledge of multi-service electronic software packages to implement and maintain the Electronic Health Records; create and modify templates for analysis of clinical workflow processes; coordinate, analyze and evaluate processes related to information flow, serves as a liaison between facilities, departments and staff related to these processes; and provide ongoing support to users. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
